Fraction Operations:  Read each of the following story problems and decide if you should add, subtract, multiply, or divide.

  1. The owners of Hot Tomato hosted a party with ten of their closest friends.  Once the party had concluded, they had seven and a half pizzas left over.  They gave their friend Trudy two-thirds of the leftover pizzas because she had some nieces and nephews coming into town the following day.  How much pizza did Trudy take home with her?
  2. Marc, Diane, and Kloe are collecting cans to recycle for a "Clean the World" campaign.  Marc collects five and one-fourth bags, Diane three and one-third bags, and Kloe 11/12 bags.  How many bags of cans did they collect in all?
  3. Innovating:  A local baker makes cupcakes for elementary schools in his community.  It takes 2/3 of a cup of batter to make a single cupcake.  He has two containers that each have 20 and 3/4 cups of batter in them.  How many full cupcakes can he bake?
